A total of 443 skilled workers
have been invited by the province of Manitoba in a draw that took place on
August 15th to settle in the province as permanent residents.
The invited candidates will now
be in a position to apply for immigration to Manitoba along with the family
members by way of Manitoba Provincial Nomination Program (MPNP).
The MPNP is an immigration
program in Canada that enables the province of Manitoba to bring in new immigrants
who have been found capable to settle in Manitoba along with their family
members. Applicants are accepted based on the eligibility criteria that is set
by the province.
The MPNP works through an
Expression of Interest (EOI) system for skilled workers, wherein aspiring
immigrants can submit their application for a formal EOI.
Once this step is taken by an
candidate, points are assigned to them depending on their personal profile and
related factors. Thereafter, Letter of Advice to Apply (LAA) is issued to
candidates that have obtained the highest points.
Such a candidate can than apply
with the federal government for permanent resident status, that is after a
successful nomination.
401 candidates were issued LAA in
the August draw under the criteria for the Skilled Workers sub-category in
Manitoba. The score that was attained by the lowest ranked candidate who was
invited was 585.
This was the lowest cut-off
threshold for any draw in this sub-category since last September. The rest of
the 42 LAA were issued in the Skilled Workers Overseas sub-category to
candidates.
Every candidate who was invited
in this sub-category had obtained 719 or more points.

skilled workers are interviewed at the overseas immigration / employment fairs
by MPNP representatives. These workers are subsequently invited to apply after
a formal Expression of Interest (EOI) is submitted by them.
