The new Global Skills strategy from the Government of Canada will enable employers to use a faster and more predictable process to attract talent from across the globe. According to the announcement made by Ahmed Hussen, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Minister, Navdeep Bains (Innovation, Science and Economic Development Minister) and Rodger Cuzner (Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Labour), the Global Skills Strategy will benefit all the highly-skilled workers from across the globe.
Some of the key elements of this strategy include the four pillars, highly-skilled workers that are coming on a temporary basis to Canada will be able to benefit from the two-week period for processing the application for granting the work permit. As and when required study permits for dependants and open work permits for spouses will also be processed within a period of two weeks time.
The new Global Talent Stream and the new dedicated service channel from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada will benefit the employers. This will enable them to access highly-skilled, temporary, global talent, expand or scale up their knowledge of specialized skills so that they can build their expertise or be more innovative.
Two new exemptions to work permit have also been brought into effect today. A work permit will not be required researchers who are taking part in the research projects for short-duration being conducted in Canada and highly-skilled workers who will come to Canada for a very short term assignment.
