Universities in Canada Receive Fresh Investments to Improve Research and Infrastucture

The first two months of 2017 have seen a number of investments being made in the higher education institutions in different part of Canada. In the last few days, Holland College in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, and Ryerson University in Toronto, Ontario have received funds to carry out different projects with the objective of ensuring that Canada remains as the leading education destination and research hub.

These investments are in line with the initiatives that have been taken by Ontario. The announcement for these investments was made by Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development in Canada.

Bains stated that, the government of Canada has made this historic investment with a vision to put Canada as the center of innovation on the world map. This means efforts will be made to help Canada maintain its position as the world leader in turning science into technologies, ideas into solutions, start-up companies into global successes and skills into middle-class jobs.

Ryerson University

Minister of Science, Kirsty Duncan, and Minister of Finance, Bill Morneau, made the annoucement that Ryerson University will receive a federal investment of $ 128,000. the funds will be utilized to boost aerospace research at the university, along with creating test facility for aerospace vehicles.

The funds have specifically come from the Canada Foundation for Innovation's (CFI) John R. Evans Leaders Fund. The objective of this organization is to assist universities in creating facilities and research tools to retain and attract researchers from across the globe.

Duncan stated in a press release that investments in research infrastructure is very important for the better future of Canada. Investments like these provide Canadian researchers with the tools to undertake cutting-edge research and it also brings in qualified manpower to do so. It is also important to train scientists so they can build a better future.
