New Global Talent Stream from Canada

The government of Canada has come out with the details of the Temporary Foreign Worker Program for the new Global Talent Stream. This new program will put into force a two-week standard for processing the applications for work permit for the category of highly skilled workforce.

The Global Talent Stream will be put into force from June 12, 2017. This stream forms part of the Global Skills Strategy of the Canadian government. The aim of this strategy is to help in creating jobs for middle-class, creating economic growth and help firms in being innovative.

This new planning will enable Canadian companies to bring in highly skilled workers from other countries efficiently and quickly. At present, progress is still being made to start the hiring as per the new regulations for two-week processing time.

A Global Talent List consisting of occupations that are in high demand is being created after having consultation with key stakeholders and labor market experts. It is expected that this list will be published in advance of the launch on June 12.

Patty Hajdu, Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Labor, and Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, the two federal cabinet ministers were also present at the time of the announcement.
